The present Avenue were once a wide, abundant long grasses on plain lands during those year 1940’s, and in 1945 after the known World War II, the avenue were named Highway 54, since most of the streets in the use were named in numbers, and 54 got its number because of the total length of the avenue is about 54 kilometers.
Highway 54 decided by Filipinos to change its name to either McArthur Highway, or Ramon Magsaysay Avenue, or there are some suggestions too, but EDSA is the choice approved by majority in the year 1959.

But the longest street avenue of all in the world is found in Canada named Yonce Street that reaches 1,800 kilometers.
EDSA is already 72 years old, and now news report that we people here heard that it’s about time to change again the avenue name from EDSA to Corazon Aquino Avenue; if this will happen then it is for the 3rd time of changes.
